Guest Student: A guest student is someone who is currently attending another college or university and plans to transfer the completed courses they take at CMU back to their home institution.

Things to know:

It is the responsibility of a guest student to confirm with their home institution that the courses taken at CMU will count towards their program or degree plan at their home institution.
It is the responsibility of a guest student to make arrangements to pay for any courses they enroll in at CMU. Guest students are not eligible to receive Federal financial aid from CMU or apply for CMU scholarships.
CMU does not automatically send out transcripts upon course completion. Students are responsible for requesting transcripts and can do so through our Registrar's Office.

Prerequisite or Preparatory Courses: Students in this category are completing specific graduate-level coursework to be eligible for admission into a graduate or doctoral program.

Things to know:

Students must be enrolled in courses required for admission to a graduate or doctoral program, as confirmed by the program to which they are applying.
Federal student loans, while not guaranteed, may be available for up to one consecutive 12-month period for students enrolled at least half-time.

Teaching Endorsement: Students in this category have already earned a bachelor’s degree and are certified educators seeking to enroll in coursework required for an additional teaching endorsement in the state of Michigan.

Things to know:

Admission may require meeting additional criteria set by the department.
Individuals enrolled in the non-degree teacher certification are fulfilling state certification requirements and not pursuing an additional degree.
Federal student loans may be available for those enrolled at least half-time and completing courses required by the certifying body.

Concurrent Graduate: A current CMU undergraduate student who can register concurrently for graduate credit in the last semester of their undergraduate (Bachelor's degree) program.

Things to know:

You are limited to enrolling in a maximum of 12 undergraduate credits during the semester of concurrent registration.
During your semester of concurrent registration, you must be enrolled in any remaining undergraduate graduation requirements.
Your total credit load (both graduate and undergraduate courses) will not exceed 15 credits during the semester of concurrent registration.
You have an undergraduate GPA of at least 2.7 or a 3.0 in the last 60 semester hours of graded coursework towards your CMU Bachelor’s degree.
If you are approved for concurrent graduate status, the status will only be granted for one (1) semester. The concurrent graduate status will expire at the end of the approved semester, regardless of whether you complete your undergraduate degree requirements and graduate.
All credits taken before the awarding of the undergraduate degree, regardless of course level and the degree to which they are being applied, will be charged at the undergraduate tuition rate.
After the semester of concurrent graduate status, if you wish to complete any additional graduate courses, you will need to submit a new admission application.
